I was the cover and interior designer for Urban Trails: Tucson, a new hiking guide hitting shelves in February 2025. Stay tuned for more details about two new exciting titles that I will be designing for Fall 2025.

Urban Trails: Tucson (February 2025 Pub Date)
Urban Trails: Tucson
From March to September 2024, I designed the cover and laid out the interior for Urban Trails: Tucson by Sirena Rana. Some of the skills I performed included:
Creating a variety of options for the cover and presenting to the team
Designing a trail locator map for the back cover
Styling the type from manuscript from galleys all the way to final page layout
Organizing and carefully selecting photos for visual balance
Communicating effectively and promptly with editor, creative director and map-maker.
Using advanced InDesign skills (ex: Tagged Text, Find/Change inputs, Long Doc organization and management)
Adhering to the deadlines of the project and ensuring that the project stayed on printing schedule

My Hiking Story
I have been a hiker my life and have been looking for ways to blend this passion with my design work. Both my parents are avid backpackers and instilled in us a love for the outdoors at a young age. I grew up exploring the forests outside Paris and hiking in the French Alps.
This love for the outdoors has been a driving force in my life. When I was 20, I decided to challenge myself and completed a solo hike of a section of the Appalachian Trail. Those three weeks of backpacking alone on the AT have been formative in my life. Living as close as possible to wild places has been a focus ever since.
One of my career goals is to lend my design skills to organizations that promote the caretaking of the outdoors. Teaming up with Mountaineers Books—a leader in books about the natural world—is a dream come true.
